About Flo
We are a fast-growing energy company with a big mission: to switch as many people as we can to clean, renewable electricity by making it so cheap you would choose it over conventional electricity. Because why should we pay more to heal the world, right? And no, it's not impossible.
Unlike other retailers, we only sell what we believe in: renewable electricity plans. We do not offer conventional plans where electricity is generated by burning fossil fuels or carbon emissions are offset with carbon credits. We are also not a fan of complicated contracts and hidden fees, so we got rid of them too đ
We're cleaner, greener, and cheaper. Apart from the money you can save, just by switching to Floâs electricity plans, each of us can do to help avoid a climate disaster just by switching to renewable energy. You'll sleep in peace, knowing your nightlight is saving the earth and your pocket.
Well, it's quite simple. We We invest in technology đ§âđ» that makes us operate a lot more efficiently than the typical electricity retailer and we only work with local suppliers that do the same. These savings are passed down to you! đ€ So you get to enjoy lower, fairer prices while knowing that they are helping reduce their own carbon footprint.
Yes, we are a registered business. Our UEN / GST Reg. No is 202006009E
Yes, we are licensed to sell electricity. Our Retail License is EMA/RE/041 (you can view our license here). And we are a trusted partner of the SP Group.
You can find out more about it on our Policies page. We are also proud of our bizSAFE 3 certification, which recognizes that Flo complies with Risk Management regulations. It also recognizes that Flo employeesâthat deliver you servicesâwork in a safe and compliant environment. đ§âđ»đ©âđ»
We believe that we need more energy without releasing any more greenhouse gases. Our current sources of renewable energy â wind đŹ and solar đ mostly â could do this. But we are not doing enough to deploy them. We believe the solution is to make clean energy so cheap and reliable that you would choose it over fossil fuels. We make this possible by investing heavily in technoglogy and passing the savings on to you.
We hope that Flo will encourage people to buy renewable energy and join a green recovery initiative that will set an example for the rest of the world.
We see an opportunity to realise this. We have three things in place to accomplish this major undertaking. First, we have ambition, thanks to the passion of a growing team led by developers, engineers, and data scientist, all working together, who are deeply concerned about climate change. Second, we have big goals for solving the problem. Clean energy for cars, public transportation, manufacturers, we aim to power them all with green electricity âĄïž
Third, a concrete plan to achieve our goals.

Green Energy and Saving Energy
Renewable electricity comes from resources that are constantly replenished, like sunlight đ wind đŹ and water đ A zero-carbon way to produce electricity.
It doesnât rely on burning fossil fuels. Generating electricity from fossil fuels uses finite resources like gas or coal. The burning process releases greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, which contributes to global warming. This type of energy is also often referred to as dirty energy or conventional energy.
For every unit of electricity you use, we put a unit on the regional grid produced by a renewable source. We are talking mainly about solar, wind and hydraulic sources.
-
We supply renewable electricity to our members by having direct relationships with renewable generators to purchase their electricity and sell it on to you.
-
We buy the remaining electricity demand from the wholesale market because the local renewable electricity supply is still very small. The wholesale market is a marketplace where most generators choose to sell their energy.
Every unit of energy we purchase comes with a Renewable Energy Certificate (REC), standard and always. These certificates certify that all the energy we acquire is purchased from a legitimate local renewable energy producer or that a unit is produced and put on the grid by a renewable source in the region.
The key to addressing climate change is to make clean energy just as cheap and reliable as what we get from fossil fuels. The more members that switch to renewable energy, the more RECs Flo buys, and more money is invested in renewable energy. And the cost of building new renewable generators will come down. And weâll get even more affordable, green energy on the grid.
Little by little, polluting energies will stop being consumed, thus reducing greenhouse gases and carbon. In this way, we all contribute to increasing the production of renewables.
By switching to renewable energy, the impact you generate is very great. Do you want an example of your impact?
An average household (four-room HBD) using renewable electricity reduces its carbon footprint by 1.81 tonnes of carbon emission per year. It is the same amount that 90 rain trees can absorb.
Each of us can take steps to help the world get to zero carbon emission. Being part of this change is in our hands. Thatâs it. Letâs get started. Do you want to sign up?
1 Based on 2018âs grid emission factor of 0.4188 kgCO2/kWh. Average monthly electricity use for a 4-room flat based on EMA figures in 2018 is 353.9 kWh.
REC stands for Renewable Energy Certificate.
The bigger renewable generators choose to sell their power on the wholesale market. For every megawatt-hour of renewable electricity they put onto the grid, they receive a Renewable Electricity Certificate (REC). Green retailers can buy these RECs from generators to match the amount of electricity they buy.
These certificates certify that all the energy we acquire is purchased from a legitimate local renewable energy producer or that a unit is produced and put on the grid by a renewable source in the region.
When green electricity retailers buy 1 REC, it certifies that they purchased 1mWh of renewable energy. Think of it like buying an expensive watch that comes with a certificate to make sure itâs genuine. Each REC is uniquely numbered and tracked.
Flo buys only regional RECs that are certified and accredited by The International REC Standard Foundation (I-REC). I-REC is a non-profit organisation that provides a robust attribute tracking standard. Ensuring our RECs are legit of the highest quality, and for the avoidance of double counting. This way, renewable energy producers can only sell their energy once, making sure itâs happening fair and square for all.
Every year, we report to you on the amount of RECs we've purchased and from what sources.
Whatever the cost, your money directly increases renewable electricity production in the region.
We canât deliver clean, renewable electricity to your property directly from solar farms. Since electricity generated from renewable energy sources is mixed with other source of energy in the power grid, some form of tracking is required. Itâs all delivered through the national power grid, a melting pot of different types of energy. The grid takes all the power produced and moves it around Singapore according to demand.
The truth is that the energy coming into your home wonât change when you switch supplier. Itâll come from the grid, just like your neighboursâ.
The green bit happens at the other end, when retailers are buying your energy.
No retailer can guarantee the origin of the electricity thatâs powering your particular kettle during potluck dinners.
But what they can do is buy green energy on your behalf. And the money you pay for your electricity, is sent to our renewable energy source, who in turn produces renewable energy.
Even though all houses ultimately tap into the same âpoolâ of energy - your contract with us does make sure more money is invested into renewable energy, making earth a better place.
Itâs all part of the bigger picture to green up the grid and achieving net-zero emissions as soon as viable.
Most Electricity Retailers you know are selling you âCarbon Neutralâ electricity. A scheme where all of your money still goes to a gas plant and gas is burned to make your power. The only difference is that they also invest a very small percentage of your money in projects that offset greenhouse gases and carbon (CO2) created at the gas plant. But as you understand, this isnât stimulating a transition to clean, renewable power at all. Itâs not green electricity.
When Flo buys energy and RECs from a renewable source. Every unit of energy we purchase comes with a Renewable Energy Certificate, standard and always. These certificates certify that all the local energy that we acquire is purchased from a legitimate renewable energy producer and that a unit is produced and put on the grid by a renewable source in the region.
Singapore is one of the countries in the world with a lot of hours of sunshine but limited to space to build new big solar farms.
Tapping on regional power grids for cleaner energy resources is one strategy to diversify Singaporeâs energy supply further.
In a keynote speech delivered at the opening of the Singapore International Energy Week (2020), Minister for Trade and Industry Chan Chun Sing said that the move is part of Singapore's plan to strengthen the "regional grid architecture".
"We will kick this off by importing 100 megawatts (MW) of electricity imports for a trial period of two years, to see how the market works ... This will allow the region to share the clean energy sources that different countries may have, and weâll start this with Malaysia," he said. "Once the concept takes off, weâll be able to extend this to other regional players."
Thus, when more people consume renewable energy from Flo, the more RECs Flo buys, and more money is invested in renewable energy. And the cost of building new renewable generators â in Singapore or in Malaysia - will come down. And weâll get even more affordable, green energy on the grid. In this way, we all contribute to increasing the production and consumption of renewables.

Meters and readings
Meters are read once every two months. In months where meters are not read, we estimate your bill based on the average daily usage between your last two actual reads. The bill is adjusted when we next read your meter.
For example, if your meter is read in January, the next reading month will be March. During the month that is to be estimated (February) your consumption will be calculated by multiplying the average of the last 2 meter reading (January and November of the previous year).
We need meter readings to calculate your bill correctly. We do not want you to pay more than you should for your electricity.
SP Group (SP Services) will remain responsible for the meter reading.
If you wish to submit your own meter reading you may do so by submitting to SP Services.
- Online: Register to e-services here
- Mobile App: You can log in to SP Utilities App to submit your meter readings. Search for âSP Utilities Appâ via Apple Store or Google Play Store.
- Whatsapp: Submit pictures of your meter via Whatsapp at 8482 8636 before the cut-off date as advised in your monthly SP Group bill.

There are two types of electricity meters:
- Static Residential Load Profile (SRLP) meter is a cumulative meter used by most households to measure electricity consumption. These meters are read on a bi-monthly basis by SP Group (Sp Services). On the months where the meters are not read, SP Group (SP Services) will estimate the monthâs consumption.
- The other option is Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) meters which measure electricity consumption remotely at half-hourly intervals and SP PowerGrid will impose a one-time installation fee of $40 per AMI meter (exclusive of GST).
Smart meters (also known as Advanced Metering Infrastructure or AMI for short) are smarter than a traditional meter because they're able to send your meter readings straight to us. This means, wave goodbye to estimated bills đ and say hello to more accurate bills đ
Send us an email at hello@floenergy.sg and we will help you with it.
Report any meter issues to SP PowerGrid.
Report any meter faults to SP PowerGrid and they will schedule an appointment at your premise. SP Services will determine the meter reading to be billed, based on the Metering Code approved by EMA.
Please contact SP Group at 1800-233 8000 to request.
Alternatively, Flo customer can email us the consent to obtain the meter readings on your behalf. We will then forward this consent to SP Group. However, please expect a longer turnaround time via this channel. For any queries, you can contact SP Services at choice@spgroup.com.sg or call 1800-233 8000.

U-Save
You may check your eligibility here.
You can still use your U-Save rebates to offset your electricity charges. Please note that all U-Save will be used for your SP Services non-electricity utility charges first. Depending on your sign-up date and your billing cycle, your U-Save rebates may only offset your electricity charges in the subsequent months. SP Group will coordinate with us to transfer your available U-Save rebate to offset your outstanding electricity charges. You donât need to do anything.
If you are eligible to receive U-Save, it will first be used to deduct your gas and water charges (i.e. your SP utilities bill). You may check your eligibility here.
Thereafter, if you have remaining U-Save credit in your account, it will be claimed based on your outstanding electricity charges on a weekly basis. You will see the total amount of U-Save claimed in your monthly Geneco bill.
However, if you do not observe any U-Save reflected in your monthly Geneco bill, it may be due to the following reasons:
-
U-Save needs to first be used to deduct your gas and water charges. You may have to wait for SP Services to utilise it first according to your SP billing cycle, before it may be claimed and utilised by Geneco.
-
After deducting U-Save for your gas and water charges, your U-Save balance may be zero. Hence, there is insufficient U-Save credit for the electricity component.
You may contact call SP Group at 6671 7117 (Mon - Fri, 8.30am - 5.30pm) or email customersupport@spgroup.com.sg.
