About Flo
We are a fast-growing energy company with a big mission: to switch as many people as we can to clean, renewable electricity by making it so cheap you would choose it over conventional electricity. Because why should we pay more to heal the world, right? And no, it's not impossible.
Unlike other retailers, we only sell what we believe in, renewable electricity plans. We do not offer conventional plans where electricity is generated by burning fossil fuels or carbon emissions are offset with carbon credits. We are also not a fan of complicated contracts and hidden fees, so we got rid of them too.
We're cleaner, greener, and cheaper. Apart from the money you can save, each of us can help avoid a climate disaster just by switching to renewable electricity plan. You'll sleep in peace, knowing your nightlight is saving the earth and your pocket.
Well, it's quite simple. We invest in technology that makes us operate a lot more efficiently than the typical electricity retailer and we only work with local suppliers that do the same. These savings are passed down to you! So you get to enjoy lower, fairer prices while knowing that you are reducing your carbon footprint.
Yes, we are a registered business. Our UEN / GST Reg. No is 202006009E.
Yes, we are licensed to sell electricity to businesses with an average monthly usage of 2,000 kWh or more. Our Retail License is EMA/RE/041 (you can view our license here).
You can find out more about it on our Policies page. We are also proud of our bizSAFE 3 certification, which recognizes that Flo complies with Risk Management regulations. It also recognizes that Flo employees—that deliver you services—work in a safe and compliant environment.
We believe that we need more energy without releasing any more greenhouse gases. Our current sources of renewable energy – wind and solar mostly – could do this. But we are not doing enough to deploy them. We believe the solution is to make clean energy so cheap and reliable that you would choose it over fossil fuels. We make this possible by investing heavily in technology and passing the savings on to you.
We hope that Flo will encourage people to buy renewable energy and join a green recovery initiative that will set an example for the rest of the world. Clean energy for cars, public transportation, manufacturers, we aim to power them all with green electricity.

The SP (EBS) Account is the number that SP Group issued for your premises when you opened a utilities account with them. If you are currently with SP Group, you will have to key in this number under the “SP/MSSL Account Number” field when you enter your details. It is a 10-digit number that can start with 0 until 8. You can find this on the top right corner of your SP Group utility bill.
The MSSL Account number is the number that SP Group issued for your premises when you switched out of SP Group to another retailer. The MSSL Account Number is tagged to your premises address, so it’ll only change if you’re moving premises. It is a 10-digit number that starts with 9. If you are currently on another retailer other than SP Group, you will have to key in this number under the “SP/MSSL Account Number” field when you enter your details. You can find your MSSL account number on your current electricity bill. If it’s not there, just drop your current retailer a line and they should be able to help you with this.
Don’t panic. Contact SP Group and open a utility account with them. Once your application has been approved, SP Group will send you a confirmation letter.
After that, you can visit our website and sign up online. Just ensure that your Supply Start Date is after the Electricity Turn-On Date, as indicated by SP Group.
Definitely! More premises means more savings and greener electricity! You can sign up through our website for your second, third, or even your hundredth address.
Your security deposit with SP Group cannot be transferred. When your Flo contract starts, your security deposit with SP Group will be split between your electricity and non-electricity accounts (gas & water).
The amount of security deposit allocated to your electricity account (65% of the security deposit) will be used to offset any outstanding charges with SP Group. Any remaining security deposit allocated to your electricity account will be used to offset future non-electricity charges.
Alternatively, you may request SP Group to refund the remaining security deposit allocated to your electricity account to you.

Green Energy and Saving Energy
Renewable electricity comes from resources that are constantly replenished, like sunlight, wind, and water. A zero-carbon way to produce electricity.
It doesn’t rely on burning fossil fuels. Generating electricity from fossil fuels uses finite resources like gas or coal. The burning process releases greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, which contributes to global warming. This type of energy is also often referred to as dirty energy or conventional energy.
We only supply certified 100% renewable electricity to our members. Every unit of energy we purchase comes with a Renewable Energy Certificate (REC), standard and always. These certificates certify that all the energy we acquire is purchased from legitimate local renewable generators or that a unit is produced and put on the grid by renewable generators in the region.
-
We supply renewable electricity to our members by having direct relationships with renewable generators to purchase their energy and sell it to you.
-
We buy the remaining electricity demand from the wholesale market because the local renewable electricity supply is still very small. The wholesale market is a marketplace where most generators choose to sell their energy.
By switching to renewable energy, the impact you generate is very great. Do you want an example of your impact?
An average household (four-room HDB) using renewable electricity reduces its carbon footprint by 1.76 tonnes of carbon emission per year. It is the same amount that 90 rain trees can absorb.
The key to addressing climate change is to make clean energy just as cheap and reliable as what we get from fossil fuels. The more members switch to renewable energy, the more RECs Flo buys, and more money is invested in renewable energy. And the cost of building new renewable generators will come down, which means we’ll get even more affordable, green energy on the grid.
Little by little, polluting energies will stop being consumed, thus reducing greenhouse gases and carbon. In this way, we all contribute to increasing the production of renewables. Each of us can take steps to help the world get to zero carbon emission. Being part of this change is in our hands.
REC stands for Renewable Energy Certificate.
For every megawatt-hour (MWh) of renewable energy that renewable generators put onto the grid, they receive a Renewable Energy Certificate (REC). Green retailers like us can buy these RECs from generators to match the amount of energy we buy.
These certificates certify that all the energy we acquire is purchased from legitimate local renewable generators or that a unit is produced and put on the grid by a renewable generator in the region.
When green retailers buy 1 REC, it certifies that they purchased 1 megawatt-hour (MWh) of renewable energy. Think of it like buying an expensive watch that comes with a certificate to make sure it’s genuine. Each REC is uniquely numbered and tracked.
Flo buys only regional RECs that are certified and accredited by The International REC Standard Foundation (I-REC). I-REC is a non-profit organisation that provides a robust attribute tracking standard. Ensuring our RECs are legit of the highest quality and for the avoidance of double counting. This way, renewable generators can only sell their energy once, making sure it’s happening fair and square for all.
Every year, we report to you the amount and the source of RECs we’ve purchased.
We can’t deliver clean, renewable electricity to your property directly from solar farms. It’s all delivered through the national power grid, a melting pot of different types of electricity. The grid takes all of the electricity generated from different sources and moves it around Singapore according to demand.
The truth is that the electricity coming into your property won’t change when you switch supplier. It’ll come from the grid, just like your neighbours’. No retailer can guarantee the origin of the electricity that’s powering your particular kettle during potluck dinners.
The green bit happens at the other end when retailers are buying your energy. They can buy green energy on your behalf, and the money you pay for your electricity is sent to the renewable energy generators, who in turn produce more renewable energy.
Even though all houses and businesses ultimately tap into the same ‘pool’ of electricity - your contract with us makes sure more money is invested into renewable energy generation, making the earth a better place.
It’s all part of the bigger picture to green up the grid and achieving net-zero emissions as soon as viable.
Most electricity retailers with “green” electricity plans in Singapore are actually selling you carbon-neutral electricity. A scheme where all of your money still goes to a gas plant and gas is burned to make electricity.
The only difference is that they also invest a very small percentage of your money by buying carbon credits and investing in projects that offset greenhouse gases and carbon (CO2) created at the gas plant. But as you understand, this isn’t stimulating a transition to clean, renewable energy at all. It’s not green energy.
Every unit of energy we purchase comes with a Renewable Energy Certificate (REC), standard and always. These certificates certify that all the energy we acquire is purchased from legitimate renewable generators and that a unit is produced and put on the grid by renewable generators in the region.
Singapore is one of the countries in the world with a lot of hours of sunshine but limited to space to build new big solar farms.
Tapping on regional power grids for cleaner energy resources is one strategy to diversify Singapore’s energy supply further.
In a keynote speech delivered at the opening of the Singapore International Energy Week (2020), Minister for Trade and Industry Chan Chun Sing said that the move is part of Singapore's plan to strengthen the "regional grid architecture". "We will kick this off by importing 100 megawatts (MW) of electricity imports for a trial period of two years, to see how the market works ... This will allow the region to share the clean energy sources that different countries may have, and we’ll start this with Malaysia," he said. "Once the concept takes off, we’ll be able to extend this to other regional players."
Thus, when more people purchase renewable electricity from Flo, the more RECs Flo buys, and more money is invested in renewable energy. And the cost of building new renewable generators – in Singapore or Malaysia - will come down. This means we’ll get even more affordable, green energy on the grid. In this way, we all contribute to increasing the production and consumption of renewables.
We do not sell solar panels for the time being.
Businesses play an important part in driving demand for renewable energy. As more businesses switch to renewable energy, the supply for renewable energy will also increase, making clean, renewable energy more accessible to all. Plus, consumer these days prefer to spend their money on businesses that are environmentally conscious.
