When you are with Flo, we match 100% of your electricity usage with regional Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) and redeem them on your behalf.
These certificates adhere to the Singapore Standards 673, and therefore, you can make renewable energy claims in line with the standards. This means you are encouraging renewable generators in the region to produce more renewable energy while getting bang for your buck.
Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs)
When a renewable energy generator produces one megawatt-hour (MWh) of energy, it receives one REC. We purchase these RECs to match 100% of our customers’ usage and redeem them on their behalf. Through this process, generators are incentivised to produce more renewable energy, thanks to Flo customers.
Flo buys regional RECs that are certified and accredited by trusted global registries, such as Xpansiv I-REC and TIGR Registry. These registries provide robust attribute tracking standards, ensuring our RECs are legitimate.

A Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) is a market-based instrument that represents the environmental benefits of generating one megawatt-hour (MWh) of renewable energy. It provides information about where, how, and when that renewable energy was produced.
One REC is produced when a renewable energy generator generates one megawatt-hour (MWh) of energy. Each REC has a unique identification number and information about how, where, and when it was generated.
These certificates are then traded through global registries until they are redeemed or surrendered. Once the certificates are redeemed, they can't be traded anymore, and the final beneficiary can claim the environmental benefits, such as making a renewable energy claim.
The profit from the trades of these certificates goes back to the renewable generator, incentivising them to produce more renewable energy.
Flo purchases RECs from the region and surrenders them for each megawatt-hour of electricity our customers use as part of The Flo Commitment. These certificates adhere to the Singapore Standards 673, which allows our customers to make renewable energy claims in accordance with the SS673.

Yes! The regional RECs that we surrender as part of the Flo Commitment adhere to the Singapore Standards 673. SS673 allows customers in Singapore to make renewable energy claims using RECs that originate from Southeast Asia.
In order to meet the RE100 requirements, you need to surrender or redeem local (Singapore) RECs. Therefore, the regional RECs that we surrender as part of The Flo Commitment do not fulfil RE100 requirements.
